In the near future, the film follows Teresa (Brbara Kolen), who returns to Bacurau, a village in the semi-arid heart of Brazil, to attend her grandmother’s funeral. Upon arrival, Teresa immediately noticed that Bakurau was in a difficult situation. The main amenities are scarce, mobile phone coverage disappears, drinking water supply is contaminated and drinking water truck arrives with bullet holes. It soon became clear that the corrupt government had completely abandoned the village: not only was Bakurau literally cleared of the map, but its citizens were also attacked. Because the villagers in the vicinity must prepare an organized resistance to avoid major damage.
